A blended approach to CRM and Social Media

When you successfully blend social media with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) it will allow you to funnel more sales from engaging conversations on platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. Now days businesses are focusing more and more on connecting with their consumers and not just shoving product down their throats. We are entering an age where people choose which advertisements to listen to, which salespeople to shoo away, and are now firmly in control of what they are exposed to. For this reason it is becoming increasingly more important for businesses to manage the relationship they have with consumers so that they can continue to generate sales without jeopardizing losing consumers.

It’s also imperative to remember that like most other conversations, the social conversation cannot be controlled, but it can be managed. Customers want to be engaged with the brand, they want to feel empowered, and in order to grant these feelings a business must teach their employees how to properly manage social conversations. Setting up policies and general guidelines will help streamline the process, but ultimately employees must understand that it isn’t just the customers you are communicating with. The entire community around a brand is becoming engaged with social media, meaning that a brand must create value in an authentic and creative way so that the community can rely on the brand as a trusted resource.

While social CRM may be a new concept, the fundamentals are still the same. If a business can connect with an individual on a one-to-one basis, they will gain a lifelong follower of the brand. Social media has provided this generation an easier tool to connect with people, and utilizing it in an ethical, practical, and creative way can easily stimulate the sales funnel and lead to a community of interactive consumers.
