Salesforce launched this week Salesforce Shield, a new set of Salesforce1 Platform services to customers in regulated industries designed to offer security and compliance tools that include Field Audit Trail, Platform Encryption, Data Archive and Event Monitoring.

Salesforce understands that different needs may arise within different industries taking in consideration companies that follow governance requirements, or that work within regulated industries such as Financial Services, Healthcare, and Public Sector allowing them to build trusted cloud apps, helping them to prevent the misuse of patient, customer, and financial information. “As businesses in regulated industries move more data to the cloud, they need a holistic way of managing and tracking that data,” said Michael Markham, CTO of Conga a Salesforce partner.

Salesforce Shield lets customers see who is doing what with sensitive data, know the state and value of their data going back up to ten years, and encrypt sensitive data at rest, while still preserving business functionality. Now, IT departments and developers are empowered with drag-and-drop tools to quickly create trusted cloud apps with auditing, encryption, archiving, and monitoring built in, all delivered on the proven Salesforce1 Platform.

3) One of four Salesforce co-founders, Parker Harris, talks about Salesforce success

Nowadays Salesforce is worth over $45 billion (and is one of the top CRM companies in the world). It took them 16 years to be there, and a lot of work. Parker Harris, one of Salesforce’s co-founders talks about one key reason he believes has helped Salesforce’s growth and success.

Most of Salesforce’ rivals such as Oracle and SAP, are virtually in every area of enterprise software or are constantly seeking to get involved in more and more areas; however Salesforce has kept its focus on the customer relationship management (CRM) space. Parker explains “Many people have said we just need to add more products. Look at Oracle, look at SAP. Add ERP and inventory or compensation. Add all this stuff,” Harris told IDG Media Chief Content Officer John Gallant. “What we realized is we’re the customer company. We’re the front office solution and our customers would be really upset if we just added a whole bunch of stuff and lost focus.”

Harris added that a “do-it-all” mentality could ultimately be detrimental, as it makes you more egotistic and forceful on partners.

4) Salesforce Analytics Cloud goes live in French.

Salesforce finally rolls out its Analytics Cloud in French, and is working hand by hand with France to improve and deliver better customer service. As Muriel Pénicaud, (CEO of Business France) puts it: “Salesforce is contributing to France’s development as the world capital of innovation.” Business France is a national agency tasked with supporting the international development of the French economy, responsible for fostering export growth by French businesses, as well as promoting and facilitating international investment in France.

Salesforce helps some of the leading French brands including MeilleursAgents, Petzl and Piper Heidsieck to connect with their customers in entirely new ways, so the availability of the french version of the Analytics Cloud will make adoption and integration much easier for them. Salesforce has also made some strategic partnerships in France such as the one made with SNCF Gares & Connexions, operator of more than 3000 train stations in France. “With Salesforce, we are placing the customer at the heart of our strategy and will further develop our railway stations. Salesforce shares our vision, and as a technological partner we expect them to accompany us as we innovate in the years to come,” said says Olivier Beaurepaire, CIO, SNCF Gares & Connexions.

“In addition, the Salesforce ecosystem of customers, partners and developers across France continues to grow, and IDC forecasts it will drive €3.3 billion of GDP impact and nearly 20,000 jobs across France by 2018. We are thrilled that our commitment to customer success in France is not only driving our own growth locally, but having a positive impact on the broader French economy.” said Olivier Derrien, senior vice president, France and Southern Europe, Salesforce.

With all this Salesforce is getting more and more recognition in Europe, and like we mentioned in one of our last posts, they are reinforcing its commitment to the french market.
