This week Salesforce reached another milestone and is now a Fortune 500 company for the first time in its 16-year history. Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of Salesforce stated: “This is a huge milestone for Salesforce, and a great validation of our dedication to the cloud and customer success, as well as the trust our customers place in us.”

Companies are ranked by their size of revenue, and Salesforce became the first cloud computing company to reach $6 Billion revenue run rate; additionally, Salesforce is now the sixth largest software company, and the largest enterprise cloud computing company in the world. Salesforce ranked #483 this year and its CEO, Marc Benioff is expecting much more growth in the years to come, “With our proven business model and the incredible momentum of our Customer Success Platform, Salesforce is driving to be the fastest enterprise software company to $10 billion, which has always been our dream.”

2) Salesforce Wave partners up with Big Data companies

Salesforce has recently announced a series of partnerships that will help with the linkage of external data sources into Salesforce Wave big data tool. This partners include Google, Cloudera, Hortonworks, New Relic, Informatica and Trifacta.  “We have the opportunity to finally bring this together,” said Keith Bigelow, SVP & GM Salesforce analytics cloud. “That means the number one CRM Company partnering with the biggest partners in big data.” By working with partners, Salesforce has found new methods to add value to its own software providing different solutions to its clients without having to take unnecessary risks or making big investments.

Salesforce Wave for Big Data aims to transform big data in order for it to deliver higher value across every portion of the business. Salesforce is providing connectors to these platforms and working with them to help businesses identify correlations and patterns across combinations of transactional data, unstructured or semi-structured big data sets, in its analytics cloud.

These connectors help build channels between businesses using Salesforce tools and IT’s working with different big data platforms in order to make better use of this data. Salesforce Wave administrators can work with IT people to get the desired data into Wave where business users can access it. We all know that data only has value as it gets processed and delivered to the rest of the organization that’s why this partnership brings a major upgrade to Salesforce’s analytics.

3) Salesforce has its own channel on Medium.com

Salesforce’s user base and blog follower count continue to grow at a fast pace and as a result they have decided that it is time to start their own Medium channel: where business owners will be able to find more information on business tips and content crafted just for them.

Salesforce is introducing seven different Medium publications where users can browse around to find whatever fits their business purpose and needs at the time. This is mainly a way of complementing Salesforce blog with more interesting “success stories”, marketing content, business publications and more; it is supposed to be an easier way for users to write, and interact with millions of ideas and stories out there.

Social selling platform provider PeopleLinx recently announced a major release for Salesforce App, growing radically the capabilities of a company’s sales department to engage buyers using digital channels.

“PeopleLinx has long been a leader in social selling,” said PeopleLinx CEO Kevin O’Nell. “Today we’re expanding beyond just social. The new App prompts salespeople to take the right actions on the right channels–Twitter, LinkedIn, email, phone–at the right moments in the sales process.”

This new improvement works through an integration with Salesforce CRM and defines what would be the next step salespeople need to take in order to engage more clients by analyzing the pipeline and identifying how far along leads are from making the final deal. It monitors email engagements and keeps track of phone calls to potential customers to really measure the status of the case, and further on make the right recommendations.

Sample actions from PeopleLinx’s new app are:

  • Optimize your LinkedIn profile to build credibility
  • Join LinkedIn groups where your buyers gather
  • Connect with active prospects on LinkedIn
  • Follow the corporate Twitter handles of your corporate accounts
  • Share company-approved articles, white papers, and videos
  • Email prospects who have gone dark

5) App of the week

CloudLock Logo-H

Because we know how important it is for every company to maintain all of their records and information secure we recommend CoudLock Selective Encryption App.

CloudLock selects sensitive data automatically and intelligently encrypts this data on a record-by-record basis. CloudLock fully maintains all native Salesforce functionality and workflows without impacting end-user productivity.

Salesforce provides strong out-of-the box encryption capabilities by offering the ability to create custom pre-defined fields that can be used to encrypt sensitive information. CloudLock leverages and expands on that capability by allowing organizations to automate the detection and quarantining of sensitive information based on policies regardless of where this information resides in Salesforce.
